Interview w/ Indie Film Actor & Producer Manny Hernandez on #TheSashaMarinaShow

Mexican mover-and-shaker has no less than four major independent movies due out in 2014, including Pure Love with Charlene Amoia, and the supernatural thriller The Vanished.
He currently stars in Autumn Wanderer, available on VOD, which has received widespread praise amongst the film community.
Kevin Smith. Martin Donovan. Edward Burns. Joseph Gordon-Levitt…

They all got their start in independent films and are now some of the most prominent players, and supporters, of the low-budget film brigade.

Actor and producer Manny Hernandez – quietly but surely making his make in the indie world – is proud to be in such good company, but mostly, he’s just glad to have found his niche.

The story of six men who must complete various tasks before moving up the ladder in the crime world, Criminal Xing offered Hernandez a chance to showcase his versatility and dramatic side; he wasn’t just a comic foil for Matt Le Blanc.

In recent years, Hernandez has become a major force in the world of independent film. Among his acting credits, Xander Cohen, Portion, Vertical, and Autumn Wanderer.

Autumn Wanderer, released late last year, had Hernandez wearing two hats – that of both actor and co-producer.

The film, about a man who, while experiencing symptoms of schizophrenia, meets the girl of his dreams, received rave reviews. Similar in vein to A Beautiful Mind, the movie was shot in just 12 days with a budget of just $12,000.

Seeing what can be accomplished with a little bit of money and a lot of talent, Hernandez decided to begin producing himself. And this year sees the release of his passion project, Pure Love.

Pure Love, which teams Hernandez with How I Met Your Mother’s Charlene Amoia, tells of a woman who convinces her fiancé to make a pact of love by killing off two ex-lovers each. The ex who is responsible for the most pain and the one who poses the biggest threat.

Pure Love is just one of four movies Hernandez has out this year.

The actor also appears in the boxing drama Callejero, has a part in the coming-of-age tale Students Like Us, and plays a main role in the fright-flick The Vanished.

Hernandez, who plans on producing more features, is currently being courted for several major independent projects – including a dramatic chronicle on the many homeless.

Manny Hernandez’s secret is that he keeps working – no matter what the job. Just as people have to be aware of a product if they’re to utilise it, they have to know and recognise an actor.

“I feel like work leads to more work, that’s what’s worked for me over the years”.

Autumn Wanderer is now available on VOD
Pure Love is released late 2014
Callejero is released late 2014
The Vanished is released late 2014
