Interview with Gloria Estrada of @VientoCallejero on #TheSashaMarinaShow!

Viento Callejero is an L.A. based Urban Cumbia Band

"As independent artists, it is important for us to feel free to create and interpret music that holds special meaning to us and to present it in a way that's relatable to all music lovers."- Viento Callejero

Los Angeles based Urban Cumbia music style independent trio artists Viento Callejero (Street Breeze), composed by Gloria Estrada on guitar, Federico Zuniga on bass and Gabriel Villa on drums, is inviting to all music lovers and fans to join the fun and support their music for the month of May, a KickStarter project to release together a fresh new album for this year.
With your support, Viento Callejero will be able to complete their first recording, an inspiration that comes from the heart that has guided the band through the development and creation of their Cumbia flavor and 'musica callejera' style. As a start for this album, their first single "La Burrita" features great musical talent such as Eddika Organista (El Haru-Kuroi), vocals by Martha Gonzalez (Quetzal) and Leah Gallegos (Las Cafeteras).

Upcoming Performances:

May 28th –Mucho Residency at La Cita in Downtown LA

The album is currently being recorded at Bedrock Studios with Producer/Engineer Eugene Toale (Kanye, Raekwon). The record consists of both original material and Classic Cumbia songs interpreted in a modern flavor with the help of their guest musicians. Your help will contribute towards, Recording, Mixing/Engineering, Mastering, CD Printing, Mechanical Licensing, CD Artwork, Guest musicians and Promotion.

About this great KickStarter, the trio was inspired to create by artistic influences such as Lucho Bermudez, Orquesta Sonora Curro, Los Corraleros de Majagual, Peregoyo y su Combo Vacana and wanted to pay tribute to these artists by recreating classic songs by fusing together of organic and electronic components with new and contemporary sound, but never forgetting their urban style with Rock, Soul, Hip-Hop, Reggae, & Tropical; key components to develop each song, showcasing with independent artists their talent and musical camaraderie of the Latin Indie Music scene.

The musical trio formed in 2013, bringing together their rawest elements of fresh and infectious urban approach, breaking down the rhythmic and melodic pulse of Cumbia Colombiana, Son Montuno, Merengue, reggae, Dance Hall, Funk and Rock. Creating a one-of-a-kind musical experience every time, the band creates a unique approach to their musical endeavor by inviting and featuring different vocalists for every performance. Re-mixing and re-interpreting the Classic Cumbias in dance halls all over the world, the band has become the newest incarnation of the L.A. movement.
