Miami Nightlife: The Untold Story

Miami's EDM Scene

Bonjour Miami! Or as my Cuban Father would say, Que Bola?! As promised, on the last article I wrote I said I’d talk about Miami’s EDM scene but I did you one better. This week I interviewed an up-and-coming Icon in the Miami Scene known better as “Lemony” From the “Miami Beat Wave”. Here’s what he had to say!

Dj Alain:
Hey Billy! Or should I say Lemony from Miami Beat Wave!! How’s your day going?
Lemony:
Lol, it's going quite well. Just eating some Arebetters.

Dj Alain:
Sounds good! So the reason why I have been trying to get in contact with you was to ask about your opinion on the EDM scene here in Miami. How would you describe it?
Lemony:
Powerful. My opinion on it, is the genre itself is very inspiring in many ways. Not only do EDM festivals bring so many positive people together, but it also changes lives. I've seen friends from high school who were hard core gang bangers grow up to be hard core ravers who wouldn't harm a soul now days. I feel like we all have very powerful voices in the EDM community and in Miami especially instead of working against each other, we should all wok with each other to express the power of our scene. The issue is so many competitions all over Miami. EDM use to be earned, you use to have to follow maps, and clues to get to a rave.. Now a days it seems as if you can walk outside your house, and there will be a rave on your front lawn lol. But the entire scene down here is great, I just wish we could all work together.

Dj Alain:
How long have you been "djing" in the Miami Club scene?
Lemony:
Well, I've been DJ'ing for coming on 3 years, but prior to DJ'ing I was an extremely hard working promoter in the club/rave scene. Mostly for underground raves.
Dj Alain:
Do you see yourself someday in the ranks of other great DJ's in the EDM scene such as Tiesto, Deadmau5, etc.
Lemony:
I've worked hard for everything I accomplished, and to be where I am today. I'm not famous, or internationally known.. Far from it.. But... I am a strong believer in following your dreams, and I will continue to do what I love, and that is to make music, and mix records. If it happens, it happens.. Everything happens for a reason. One thing's for sure.. I'll never stop doing what I love.. Till death do us part

Dj Alain:
Where could the people reading this if they wanted to party find you out during the week? Any places where you will always be at?
Lemony:
I hold bi weekly and weekly residencies at Club Cinema, The Vagabond, and Mekka. Other than that you just have to follow me on Facebook to get my up to date events. I'm constantly getting booked for one time special events. Follow me on Facebook at Facebook.com/lemonysnicks

Dj Alain:
Anything you want to say to the readers before we wrap this up?
Lemony:
We do this for you guys Miami, and if it weren't for you all we would be nothing. We will continue to support our city to the fullest, no matter where life takes us! -MiamiBeatWave

And there you have it Miami! An insight into the EDM scene in Miami by a local DJ and Producer!
On the next Article I will be reviewing a Miami party in which I’ve been apart of for almost two years, Fashionista Fridays at Mekka Miami! Till next time

The Release of DJ F3tto's New Video! @F3tto

Before we even get into the release of F3tto's brand new video release lets get to know a little about him...

F3tto is a DJ/Producer that comes from the soul and passionately drives his music. From his early days of drumming at Berklee, to his music festival Fettofest, to his company No. 14 Studios, he has embarked on a musical journey unlike no other.  He has overcome leaps and bounds and become an artist to look for in the year 2013.  He is starting this year off right with his debut EP which will be released through Back to the Dance Floor.  Throughout the past year he has DJ'd all over Los Angeles, and performed at festivals, clubs, and red carpet events for artists.  He has gotten the attention of major label artists, large corporations, and shows.  F3tto has no limits, he can compose for film, create a massive Dubstep hit, or write a simple dance pop song .

This debut EP is his entrance into the dance world.  His online store launched along with his EP on January 14th, which has received great reviews.

"F3tto is one of those prolific artists who is not only driven to create, but has the skills to back it up. His understanding of rhythm& style is something you can only be born with, and finding someone with his attention to detail is like winning the lottery for a perfectionist like me"
Kevin Stea (Singer, Dancer, Choreographer for Madonna and Michael Jackson)
"F3tto is crazy, he comes in the studio and yells and motivates everyone to create the best music possible.  I love this kid"
Cairos Heinen (Owner of Sushi Kingz and Artist Resurrection Recording Studio)

Now here is the video to F3tto's Single, "My Demons."
Check it out, hope you like it & leave him your feed back!

Miami Nightlife: The Untold Story

Opening Night

It’s a Friday night, time is 11:30 at night, you and your friends are heading to the club for a night out of partying. What you don’t know is that the DJ who is opening is probably already there. Opening dj’s have to get to the club typically between two hours to an hour before their set to ensure all equipment is working correctly. Now, although the opening DJ might not catch the eyes of many he is the first person to set your mood for the night. Think about it! You just walked in, got a drink, and now you’re getting ready for a night of partying so you’re listening to what I like to call “warming up” music. Music you can two step to but not get too pumped up. Personally, I want you to have a roller coaster like experience where you get your ups and downs in the club because if you just get the up you’ll get tired quicker and the room will die down. No dj wants his room dying. It’s an art form all in itself. Many of you now are probably thinking “Man that sounds EASY! Anyone can do it!” Wrong. There is much more to djing than song selection. You have to mix music together. What that means is ensuring one song fades out into a new song without you (the general public) noticing. Not just any two songs though, they have to have the same Beat Per Minute speed and have similar drum patterns. Now that its around 12:30/1 AM The Headliner DJ steps in and begins his set! The crowds going wild! But what most of you don’t know is that he’s on his A game, giving it 200% of what hes got to make sure the crowd (you) have a great time! Now I’ll be honest, I hate but absolutely HATE it when people come up to me and make requests that are completely left field! If you see that I’m playing some Mainstream music that everyone or just about everyone has heard and likes don’t ask me to play your “boys” track on a “cd” cause you say its crazy and everyone will jam to it. If I were to play it, you and your boy would be the only people dancing besides the couple of pastilleros that are usually there. C’mon pipo! Think! Also, I don’t mind girls coming up to the DJ booth and dancing, hell I love that! But a DJ booth full of Guys? I pass. If you got drinks in your hand make sure they stay in your hand and not around my equipment because if you spill it you pay it. Well this concludes my session for Today! Next Article’s gonna be about My opinion on the “EDM” Scene of today!

Stay tuned and as Always, Stay Classy Miami!
